WORSHIP PARTICIPATION
The
Acolyte Program
Children
in Grades 3 through 7 are invited to take part in our Acolyte Program in which
they assist the Minister and the Deacons in the formal opening and closing of worship
through the lighting and extinguishing of the candles. The acolytes are
trained, guided, and overseen weekly by the Board of Deacons. Acolyte robes are
also provided by the Deacons. Training sessions will be announced throughout
the year, so please inquire through the Learning Center Office (846-3515) if
your child is interested.
The
Children's Time
On
the second and fourth Sundays of each month (unless otherwise announced) the
children will be provided a mini-sermon (for kids of all ages) at the beginning
of the adult worship service. This message is affectionately known as "The
Children's Time". Children and their families will be directed to the
Sanctuary on "Children’s Time" Sundays. All of the children are
dismissed to their classrooms after "The Children's Time".
Circle
Time
Every
Sunday, after the children report to their classrooms and attendance has been
taken, they will gather in Farnum Hall for "Circle Time". In the
circle, the children will share in a mini-worship service complete with prayers,
a scripture lesson, the sharing of joys and concerns, and the collection of
offering. Observing a worship ritual, just like Mom and Dad, will prepare the
children for the adult worship experience as they get older.
Sermonastics
One
Sunday a month, the Jr. High Class and Confirmation Prep Class and will attend
the worship service, as a group, to engage in an exercise called
"Sermonastics". Using a worksheet as a guide, they will develop a
deeper understanding of the Minister’s message.
